For our 43d annual Gathering, we will return to this beautiful resort on US Highway 19, at the southern end of Crystal River Florida. Since we were there three years ago, the facility has undergone a $7 million renovation and expansion, including new rooms, meeting facilities and an on-site AVEDA spa. The car park will again be on the lawn of the Resort, on the banks of the river. It is a great place to sit and watch the water flow by while enjoying MG fellowship. We have arranged special rates for the event with Standard Double or Standard King rooms at $89.00 per night with a waiver of the usual Resort Fee for this booking. Patio Double or King rooms and Junior Suites are available for $99.00 and $109.00 respectively. You will need to call the Resort directly, at 800-632-6262 and mention that you are with the Classic MG Event. If you have special requests you need to make them at this initial time. They don’t give written confirmations, but will give you a confirmation number when your reservation is guaranteed. You must act soon, because the block of reserved rooms will hold only until February 24, 2009. After that date, you can’t be assured of a room.
Room reservations can be cancelled up to 72 hours prior to arrival without penalty (a one night charge for any cancellation after that time), but we urge you to notify us if the necessity arises, because we have guaranteed a block of rooms for the event.
Reservations for the traditional Saturday Awards Banquet (sit-down service – no buffet!) are to be made at the time of your registration for the event.
There will be a First Timers Show of cars on Friday evening in a reserved area in the front of the Resort from 4:00-6:00 PM. The Hospitality Room will be open at 2:00 PM for Registration, delivery and viewing of Raffle prizes and Socializing.
Dinner on Friday Evening will be on your own, but your Hosts will have information about local favorites and will endeavor to “fix you up” so that you can enjoy dinner in the company of friends, both old and new. We will post a list of recommended restaurants in the area on our website www.classicmgclub.com in due time. (posted - see sidebar)
The show of cars will commence on Saturday at 10:00AM on the lawn, overlooking the river and continue until 12:00 Noon. We are planning a tour of the local sights starting at 2:30 which will take about 1½ hours. We reserve the right to add additional afternoon amusements depending on the creativity of our committee, the weather, etc. There are plenty of activities to please everyone, even those who don’t think kicking tires is a fun way to spend an afternoon. Vendors are both welcome and encouraged, but need to understand that they cannot set up for business on the lawn where the Show of Cars will occur on Saturday Morning. This is because of the recent expansion of the facility which has blocked off the entry point we used in the past. Our small cars will have to drive over a walkway between two wings of the Resort to get to the lawn, but this isn’t possible with a modern-sized auto or a commercial vehicle or trailer. We will reserve sufficient space for vendors in the parking lot to the right of the main lobby (as you face the lobby) and you can operate both Friday and Saturday as long as you wish.
