British Car Day
Posted February 18th, 2008 by PaulBRITISH CAR DAY is SATERDAY, APRIL 5th. Once again this year, our Club is in charge of registration. This is one of the easier jobs. Paul Plasschaert does all the advance work receiving the forms and monies. At the show, we need a few people to handle walk in registrations, hand out packets and park our own MGs. If you can help that day please let us know at the next meeting or contact Tony Roth at ClassicMGClub@cfl.rr.com
See our February and future newsletters for more additional information.
For those that like to register their car please go to www.allbritishcarclub.com for a registration form.

February driving event to Boc Tower Gardens
Posted February 18th, 2008 by PaulFEBRUARY’S DRIVING EVENT will take place on Saturday MARCH 1st commencing at 9:00 AM at the Gourmet McDonald’s restaurant on South Orange Ave. (near Michigan). After coffee and food for those late risers we will depart in typical caravan fashion at 9:30, heading south to Boc Tower Gardens and Sanctuary in lovely Lake Wales. Al, with some help and guidance from Paul, will have a route laid out that will get us there, in typical MG style (after stops for catch-up, gas, etc.) around 11:30 in time for (what else?) lunch at the Carillon Café, which has rather good food, as I recall. There is an admission fee for the Sanctuary, and whether we pay $10.00 or $8.00 will depend on how many people we have. At no cost to you or the Club, we have reserved good touring weather and abundant floral displays inside the Sanctuary, so you will enjoy not only the tour down and back, but also your time in the Gardens. We have not planned to participate in any of the formal tours, but will be there for the Carillon Concert at 1:00 PM (repeated at 3:00). The Gardens are handicap accessible and the incline to the tower is paved and most of the pathways are mulched. The park has a limited number of electric-powered scooters available on a first-come basis for rent. If you need one and don’t have one, call ahead to the Garden Gift Shop (863-676-1408). When we get a consensus that it is time to move on (or if we are asked to leave) we will return directly, though on the back roads, to our points of origin.
